Ok, so I have cable internet and TV through Comcast (which I didn't exactly want, but had no choice) I want to do a stability test on our internet. Quite often throughout the day, the internet will drop out for just a fraction of a second. It does it on the TV too. The screen will blip and i'll lose the picture for just a second (sound never drops). These constant drops don't seem like a big deal, but if i'm playing a multiplayer game online (in this instance Resistance 2), just that fraction of a second drop kicks me from the game. SO, after that long winded explanation, what I'd like to do is to have a service running on my computer that will keep track of the total 'up-time' of the internet. I'm not sure how this could work (# of packets dropped, constantly ping the isp...) When it comes to stuff like this i'm kind of uneducated. Do any of you guys know of a program or something that can do this? I'd like to take some solid numbers to Comcast when I rip them a new asshole.

In your start list for windows select run type cmd and press enter type ping www.yahoo.com /t and press enter This will constantly run a ping at yahoo's server (I picked yahoo because i use google) When you want to check your results press control+c to end the ping. I'm sure there is a better way but this will show you how many packets you are dropping.

well after about 10 hours of running:
sent: 32908 received: 32819 lost: 89 (which is basically 0%) min time: 27ms max time: 786ms avg: 34ms
so either this test either didn't capture the problem or my internet isn't as bad as I thought it was (which I still think there is an issue)
